11ème Journée des Lacs Alpins de Cosmologie (JLAC11)

Ecole de Physique, Université de Genève, Tuesday 05.12.2006

Location and Transport

The meeting takes place in the Ecole de Physique at the University of Geneva. We meet at 10am on the second floor of the building, at the top of the main stairs. Those who are early can get a free coffee and croissant in the cafeteria (code word Lac Alpin). (The meeting itself will take place in the room 102 of Sciences I in the morning, and in room 234 of the Ecole de Physique in the afternoon.) There is very limited parking space available at the Physics department, please contact us if you need to come by car (even then we cannot guarantee that parking will be available, only that you will not get fined)! We recommend very much to come here by public transport.

If you come by car and cannot find a free parking at the Ecole de Physique you may leave your car in the "blue zone" along the Arve river for up to one hour before trying again. Alternatively you may use one of the underground parkings shown on this map of the parking foundation (we are a bit to the left of the centre of the map). All parkings visible are within easy walking distance, and also quite expensive (click on the "P" for details and prices).

To reach us by public transport, take the bus number 1 from the train station to the stop "Ecole-Médecine" which is visible on the right hand side of this map. The Ecole de Physique intersects the red circle from the right (corner "Boulevard d'Yvoy", "Rue des Bains" and "Quai Ernest Ansermet"). Further informations can be found on our website (in French).

Please check this website again for updates on the Monday or Tuesday before the meeting.

Format

Speakers should avoid technical details as much as possible, the level should be adequate for non-experts. We expect that speakers will be using the blackboard. If you need a slide projector or beamer (e.g. for simulations or pictures) it can be arranged, but you must tell the organisers. Remember that the workshop is intended to foster interactions with the audience, experience has shown that this is best achieved when you use the blackboard. Please aim for a short talk, about 15 minutes, to leave room for questions and discussions. We would also like to encourage especially contributions from Ph.D. students.

Lunch will be provided (in the form of sandwiches) at the cafeteria of the Ecole de Physique (several other cafeterias and restaurants are nearby as well). There is no registration fee. Any visitors are welcome. We would be grateful if those who plan to attend could register by sending an email to Julien or Martin, as it helps us to organise the meeting.
