Geneva Observatory, 26.01.2005

Location and Transport

The meeting will take place in the Main Room at the Geneva Observatory, 51, chemin des Maillettes CH-1290 Sauverny, some 15km east of Geneva in direction of Lausanne .

By car: Click here to get indications about how to get to the observatory by car. Some people are driving to the observatory by private car, so it would be convenient for you to get in contact with them if you need a lift. People with car places available are marked in the participants list with a (C) sign. If somebody still has places and he/she is willing to take somebody along, thanks for getting in contact with the organisers.
By train: From Lausanne or Geneva you need to take a regional train which stops in Versoix.
There will be a shuttle bus departing from Versoix train station in front of the main entrance (direction lake) . The shuttle will wait for the trains arriving at at 9h16 in the morning (timetable given below) to take you to the observatory. Coming from Geneva, you will need to take the regional train leaving Geneva train station at 9h03. From Lausanne, you should take the train leaving at 08h17 from Lausanne train station, arriving in Versoix at 9h16.

Please note : there will be only one shuttle ride, so be sure to be there on time if you want to use the service. Click here for other train timetables.
Return journey: There will be a shuttle leaving at 17:40 sharp from the Observatory to the train station in Versoix. If you need a lift by car, please make the necessary arrangements with people coming by private cars.

Format

Speakers should avoid technical details as much as possible. The chalk-talk format is preferred; a slide projector (and a beamer, for desperate cases) will be available. The talks should not exceed 15 mins, with additional 5 mins for questions and discussion. Please remember that the audience is mixed, so the level should be adequate for non-experts.

If you wish to attend the meeting without giving a talk, please register with the organisers - we need an estimate of the total number of people for the planning. There is no registration fee.

Social Dinner

We are planning to have dinner together in the evening in some place in Geneva or surroundings. If you are interested in taking part, please email Denis Puy (we need an approximate number for booking). The costs will be at the charge of the participants.
